Standing outside, breathing heavily, my thoughts were blunt: “Why the F* am I here? Maybe this was a mistake. I am not equipped to deal with this.”

I realized in that moment that I had made a choice — to step into this family, with all its chaos, love, and challenges. And that choice came with hard lessons. I was learning how to manage the overload, set boundaries, and protect my energy — all while still showing up and doing my best to belong.

I still struggle sometimes — the messy dinners, the chaos, the tantrums, the triggers — but now the incidents are fewer, farther between. New expectations have been established, with love, over time.

Hi, I’m Brittany, and I get it.

I’m a partner, a stepmom of 5 kids, and someone who’s been in the trenches of blended family life. I know what it’s like to feel like an outsider in your own home, to get triggered by tantrums or messes, and to question whether you’ll ever truly belong. I’ve walked through the frustration, the loneliness, and the self-doubt — and I’m still learning, just like you.

Through my own journey, I’ve discovered tools and strategies to stay grounded in the chaos, set healthy boundaries, and cultivate connection with both my partner and his kids. I’ve learned that stepmom life isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence, patience, and showing up consistently.
